Chester‘s main shopping area is within the beautiful historic walled city. Chester has unique character in its two-tiered galleries of shops “The Rows” dating from the Middle Ages. The Rows are packed with independent stores, making browsing or buying a magical experience.
Dominated by the beautiful Eastgate Clock, the centre is largely pedestrianised and usually rings out with superb street entertainment including more than its fair share of talented classical musicians.
Antiques abound in Chester with Watergate Street boasting the finest cluster of shops. The city enjoys a particularly good reputation for gifts - and bridal wear! There’s also plenty of choice for the latest high street fashion. If it’s designer names you’re after, head to Chester’s famous department store, Browns.
Need a rest? There is a great range of cosy teashops, half-timbered inns and café bars and restaurants all within the city centre.
For those with an insatiable urge to shop, head for Cheshire Oaks - just 10 miles from Chester city centre, this is the UK’s largest designer outlet village with 140 shops offering discounts of up to 50%. Open 10am until 8pm Mon to Friday, 7pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.
