Night-time in Manchester

Nighlife on Canal Street

Entertainment/pubs and bars

If you’re dressed to impress and fancy a big night out rubbing shoulders with Manchester’s celebrities, there is no better place than Deansgate Locks. The Gay Village is just 5-10 minutes away where you can wander down Canal Street – maybe the most famous street in Manchester after Coronation Street! On sunny days tables spill onto the pavement where people of all persuasions soak up the sun with a drink or two.

If underground music is more your scene and you are looking for that famous Mancunian drop dead cool, look no further than the Northern Quarter. Night and Day and The Roadhouse regularly host the latest up and coming bands. Cord and Centro are independent bars which provide a home to the Northern Quarter DJ’s promoters, musicians and bohemians.

Manchester has a rich tradition of comedy. Just a couple of years ago you could have seen Peter Kay and Johnny Vegas compete for the prestigious Northwest Comedian of the Year award. You can be tickled pink by the latest comedy generation at Manchester’s annual Comedy Festival, and there’s comedy all year round at The Comedy Store, The Frog and Bucket and Jongleurs.
